Consider Jennifer
Jennifer Meyer, the owner and operator of Consider Jennifer, hired me (and a team of talented student designers) to update her logo and website. She counsels the parents of kids with special needs such as depression, anxiety, and autism.
Preliminary Sketches
Going into the project, Jennifer said she loved nature and Japanese styles. In my initial sketches, I played with elements of nature (such as bamboo, vines, and waves) and also the initials of her company, CJ.
After a feedback session with Jennifer, I researched several Japanese art forms and found one called Kintsugi. Kintsugi is the art of taking broken pieces of pottery and reattaching them with gold leaf to create beautiful new pieces. I related this to a metaphor of Jennifer taking seemingly “broken” families and bringing them together again.
Color Palette and Roughs
Jennifer loved the idea of Kintsugi (you can even find a testimonial from her website here). Based on images of Kintsugi I found and Jennifer’s feedback, I created this color palette. Through discussions with the client, I also found typefaces that suited Consider Jennifer. Previously, Jennifer had only one font throughout her website, so I wanted to include others to increase her website’s visual contrast and readability.
Final Deliverables
The final logo design was a combination of my team members’ work and my own I also worked on Consider Jennifer’s website through the use of Wix. We were able to include the Adobe Fonts we had chosen so Jennifer could be consistent across her platforms.
